Our Story
Rainbow Symphony, Inc. has been manufacturing Safe Solar Eclipse Glasses under the registered brand name Eclipse Shades® since 1989. Our first large scale production was in 1991 for the Total Solar Eclipse that transited the Hawaiian Islands and Baja, Mexico.
Since then, our products have made an appearance at most partial, annular and total solar eclipses around the world. We have even been personally fortunate enough to have traveled to many of these places to experience these spectacular events.
Eclipse Shades® lenses are made of our exclusive scratch resistant optical density 5, "Black Polymer" material. Eclipse Shades® filter out 100% of harmful ultra-violet, 100% of harmful infrared and 99.999% of intense visible light. These premium filters create a sharper ORANGE colored image of the sun. The backside of the eclipse glasses is printed with safety information.
All of our solar viewing materials are optical density 5 or greater and are "CE" certified which meets the transmission requirements of scale 12-16 of EN 169/1992. All our eclipse glasses meets the 2012 Transmission Requirements of EN 1836:2005 & AS/NZS 1338.1:1992 for Eclipse filters. (Queensland Directive) All of Our Eclipse Viewing Materials Meets the Standard for ISO 12312-2:2015
Seasoned eclipse chasers, Dr. Kate Russo and NASA's Fred Espenak help to capture not only the physical science but the emotion associated with experiencing a Total Solar Eclipse.
